The Panda's Lament

We make so many assumptions about one another based on appearances – it’s the least accurate or productive way to evaluate a person and its often unkind.  One night as we were reading a story about a Panda that had attacked a visitor in the London zoo, we thought it was a great starting point to discuss how appearances can be so deceiving.  Panda’s are bears – they aren’t cute and cuddly – they are vicious and would tear you apart.  Yet because of their adorable appearance they are mistakenly anthropomorphized to be terminally cute. Perhaps a panda would be dismayed by the mischaracterization and the total lack of understanding, perhaps he would lament it. The sample at the end of the first pre chorus is Dr. David Banner from the 70’s television series The Incredible Hulk. What better representation of masking the rage within than that iconic line?  While the lyrics are a narration of an angry panda, they are in reality a personal statement by the Monarchy – nothing is ever black and white…

Song Lyrics:

Chorus

Nothing's ever black and white

Only shades of….

Only shades of grey

far apart as  day and night

I'll break out of

out of this  cliche yeah

Verse 1

Time for some honesty,

The whole world thinks they know me,

Ya Think I'm  cute as can be?

Your barking up the wrong tree.

Appearances can deceive,

and pre decided beliefs

So try not to misperceive,

the fire that burns in me

Pre Chorus

Don't think Im all bark and no bite,

Just Try me I wont run form a fight,

don't upset me Mr. McGee,

You wouldn't like me when I'm angry,

Chorus

Nothing's ever black and white

Only shades of….

Only shades of grey

far apart as  day and night

I'll break out of

out of this  cliche yeah

Nothing's ever black and white

Only shades of….

Only shades of grey

Its easy to discover

To judge this book

Don't judge its cover..

Verse 2

shy and misunderstood

Just look under my hood,

My intent is not always good,

I'd set things straight if I could,

Bridge:

The narration

Of my situation

a desecration

I'll break free!

a reclamation

of my reputation

a dispensation

its my decree!!

Chorus

Nothing's ever black and white

Only shades of….

Only shades of grey

far apart as  day and night

I'll break out of

out of this  cliche yeah

Nothing's ever black and white

Only shades of….

Only shades of grey

Its easy to discover

To judge this book

Don't judge its cover..
